Don Gines

Softball Assistant Coach

Coach Don Gines brings 18 years of college softball experience to the Lady Falcons program.  Head coaching experience includes Southeastern Illinois College 1980-1986 (record 10947), John A Logan College 1993-2003 (record 425-178), and Louisburg College, NC 2006-2008 (record 109-73).  Coach Gines' softball teams have won five conference championships and two regional championships, making two trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.  Gines' softball teams have an overall record of 643-298.
 
Don graduated from Harrisburg High School.  He attended Southeastern Illinois College and played baseball and basketball for Coach Virgil Motsinger.  A graduate of Eastern Illinois University with bachelor's and master's degrees, he has taught physical education, drivers education, and health education at the 6-12 public school for twenty years, as well as coaching football, basketball, baseball, and cross country.
 
Con is a single father of four grown children and the proud grandfather of 6 (ages 10 to 2), with a new b0y on the way in January 2013.  Coach Gines is a Marine Corps veteran (1967-1971) with thirteen month served in Vietnam.
 
Gines said, "I guess one could say I have made the full circle as I am now back at Southeastern.  I look forward to the opportunity to work with Coach Hill in restoring the Lady Falcon Softball program back to the level it was in 1982-1996.
