Current MJOSAA Recipients

In honor of president emeritus, Dr. Mary Jo Oldham, the student-athlete awards recognize excellence in the classroom on the part of athletes who represent Southeastern Illinois College.  To be eligible, the student-athlete must have completed a minimum of 3 semesters of college courses and have a minimum of a 2.00 GPA.  Dr. Oldham, and the coaching staff of Southeastern, believes that academic success is vital to success in athletics and success in life.

2012-2013 Female Student-Athlete
Hannah Cockrum is a graduate of Galatia High School.  She is the daughter of Mark and Cathy Cockrum.  She has earned a GPA of 3.66 at Southeastern Illinois.  Hannah competed on the college softball team for two years and finished the 2013 season with a 0.279 batting average while playing catcher. Hannah will play softball for Lindenwood University - Belleville and pursue a bachelor's degree.
2012-2013 Male Student-Athlete
Austin Edge is a graduate of Davies County High School in Whitesville, KY.  He is the son of Lynne and Steve Edge.  He has earned a GPA of 3.71 at Southeastern Illinois.  Austin competed on the college baseball team for two years and in the 2013 season is currently hitting 0.339 while playing catcher.  Austin is weighing options to continue his college baseball career and pursue a bachelor’s degree in economics.
