Free GED Test Preparation at SIC
You can earn your GED. You can go to college. You can build a new future.
Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) offers free GED test preparation classes to help you reach your goals.
Classes will help you prepare for all four GED subjects:
- English Language Arts
- Math
- Social Studies
- Science
These classes are free. Please fill out the intake form to register.

Class Times and Locations
SIC Harrisburg Campus
Morning Class
- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Evening Class
- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
- 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
SIC Carmi Campus
- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
- 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

GED Testing
About the GED Test
The GED test includes four required subjects:
- English Language Arts
- Math
- Social Studies
- Science
Test Schedule
Testing takes place on Wednesdays at the SIC Testing Center.

Test Cost
- $36 per subject
- $144 total for all four subjects
You may pay by debit card, credit card, or by using a voucher from the Regional Office of Education.
These fees do not include:
- Illinois High School Equivalence Certificate ($10)
- Official Transcript ($10)
If You Are Under 18
Students under age 18 must provide a high school withdrawal letter.

The Illinois Community College Board will review and decide if you may test.

GED Diploma and Transcript Information
After completing all test subjects, allow 10 business days for final processing.
You must also complete the Illinois Constitution requirement before the state will issue your certificate.
