What positions have you held prior to SIC?
Academic Advisor/Retention Specialist for the TRIO/Student Support Services at Shawnee Community College (2006 – 2007)

What does SIC means to you?
SIC has been my HOME for almost 3 ½ years! Working hard to make sure my TRIO students are taken care of is the NUMBER ONE priority of mine. The small campus size allows me to get to know students, faculty and staff on many levels. Often you will see me interacting with students, supporting the athletic programs (Financially with fundraisers and in Attendance at games), and supporting the vocational and technical program’s services (specifically Massage Therapy and Cosmetology). These interactions has allowed me to make a life-long connect with others at Southeastern Illinois College.

What's your favorite memory at SIC?
Being selected for this spotlight. Many of the Faculty and Staff may not know me personally, so being highlighted in this feature will allow others to see WHO I AM outside of my TRIO Director position.

What is your most memorable teaching moment?
Our TRIO program offers different services in academics, personal, cultural, and social areas. I remember being like a PROUD PARENT when I was able to assist my students in learning more about Financial and Economic Literacy and then hear them telling someone else about what they learned in my workshop. Huge smile on myself because I made a difference in someone’s life that wasn’t even present at my workshop!

What do you do in your spare time?
Spare Time??? WHAT IS THAT? ;-) -- I mostly travel, go to church, do community service, watch/play sports, or spend time with my family/friends whenever I get down time.

Where’s your favorite vacation spot?
So far Montego Bay, Jamaica has been my favorite vacation spot. I usually take an “Out of the Country” Trip with friends and Family each year.

How would you spend $1 million?
First I would give my 10% in Tithes. Next I would pay off ALL of the dreadful LOANS from School and Life (DEBT FREE ME!!!!). Then set a Budget to manage my money (Investments, Small Business, Non-Profit Connections). I would take care of my grandmother’s needs because she is one important lady in my life. Lastly, Enjoy the rest on taking care of my needs, wants and wishes (I’ll TRY NOT to blow it all in one place!)

Do you have a dream?
My dream is to be Happy and Successful! Happiness starts with me, not my relationships, not my job, not with money, BUT simply enjoying ME! Success is loving myself, loving what I do AND loving how I do it! My overall dream is to be a top Student Affairs Administrator at a college or university that is making a difference in the lives of students internationally.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever heard? Or the best piece you can give to others?
• Be a FINER WOMAN at all times, because you never know when you are being a role model for another person!
• Be someone who WILL BE MISSED when you’re gone!
• Settle for NOTHING LESS than being EXCELLENT!
• Life is not about how much we get, it’s about how much we share!
