What does SIC means to you?
Relationships—I’ve made more relationships with people from SIC in my short time here than all other places combined. People truly do care about you personally and are genuine friends.
What is your favorite memory at SIC?
When I first moved here before my family, the ladies of the Student Affairs department had pity on me and provided dinner to me on numerous occasions like I was a poor college student. The food never went to waste.
What do you do in your spare time?
Playing with my kids, any type of sporting activity, especially golf, playing bass guitar.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Seaside, Florida or anywhere with a ton of snow.
In the movie based on your life, who plays you?
Steve Carrell for personality, Channing Tatum for the look-alike.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?
Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes. I identify a lot with Calvin and wanted to name one of my kids Hobbes (I lost that battle.)
What's the best piece of advice you've been given?
“Walk it off.”—my dad after I broke some toes because there was nothing that could be done to fix it. Very applicable still today.
“Always make sure that your wife knows you love her.”—my dad before my wedding. Something I try to remember every day.
