What other positions have you held at SIC?

Enrolled in SIC Day Care in 1977.

What other positions have you held prior to SIC?

High School Teacher at Mt. Vernon Township High School 1995-2000.

What does SIC mean to you?

Family.  I know it sounds cliché, but it’s true.  I feel supported by my colleagues and I trust them.  I believe we have phenomenal instruction and student support here at SIC because people care about each other and what we are doing for our students.

What is your favorite memory at SIC?

When I was a child, my father (who taught at SIC) would bring me to campus on days I wasn’t in school, but he was.  Most of the time, I would spend in the student center (they had a jukebox then…awesome late 70’s jams), but often I would go into my Dad's class and draw on the chalkboard when he taught Accounting, or whatever business class was the most boring to a six-year-old.  My first year teaching at SIC, I had to move a scheduled class of mine into my Dad’s old room. When I first walked in to teach, I was hit with a wave of memories of silly childish drawings, bad jokes my Dad would tell his class, and a feeling of peace.  It was a surreal moment.

What do you do in your spare time?

MMA training, Powerlifting, and collecting “Charles in Charge” memorabilia.  Actually, I enjoying watching sports and I have a weakness for trashy reality TV.  I am a huge tennis fan.  The Williams sisters are my favorite players…I genuinely feel they changed the game.  I am an Indianapolis Colts fan and I become a touch obsessed with Fantasy Football for 17 weeks out of the year.  My baseball team is the Boston Red Sox.  I made a pilgrimage to Fenway Park a few years ago.  As for trashy reality TV…the DVR is full!  Don’t judge me!

Where’s your favorite vacation spot?

I love traveling, usually to visit friends.  While it is not one particular spot, a few friends and I travel to different ballparks each summer until we have been to all 30.  In June, we went to Miami to see the Marlins which brought me to 12 teams covered.

In the movie based on your life, who plays you?

Drew Carey.  Or Kathy Bates…yeah, probably Kathy Bates.

Favorite Movie?

The Silence of the Lambs…top to bottom amazing film!

Favorite TV show?

Twin Peaks…Showtime is bringing back the series in 2017 after 25 years.  I can’t wait!

What is a goal of yours?

When I retire (if I ever retire), I would love to work at or start a shelter for dogs.  I have two rescue dogs, who are amazing.  One day, I would like to have the ability to foster multiple dogs.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever heard?

My mother would always calm me down when I was younger by asking me if stressing over something would help resolve the issue or was it just a waste of my energy.  I need to follow that advice more.
