Southeastern Illinois College has a long history of theatrical performances, since long before the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center Theatre was built in 1996.  Now the 450-seat theatre hosts four major SIC productions a year, music concerts, Cultural Arts Series shows, Jr. Falcon Productions’ summer children’s shows, plus regional high school productions, local events and more.

Little Shop of Horrors

Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman. The story follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh.  The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour."

A Charlie Brown Christmas - Charlie Brown becomes director of the school Christmas pageant in an attempt to restore the proper holiday spirit.

Arsenic & Old Lace

Arsenic and Old Lace is a farcical black comedy revolving around the Brewster family. The hero, Mortimer Brewster, is a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves, Elaine Harper, who lives next door and is the daughter of the local minister.

Into the Woods

Into the Woods is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. The musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault fairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from "Little Red Riding Hood", "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Rapunzel", and "Cinderella", and others.
