Flower Ridge Farm
Flower Ridge Farm, owned by Nadine Williams, has been in business since April 2008. Nadine has worked with the Workforce and Illinois Small Business Development (WISBDC) at Southeastern Illinois College on several occasions. When Nadine wanted to start up her business she contacted the WISBDC for help in setting up a business plan. Nadine also attended the First Step FastTrac Program held at our office and learned how to put together a feasibility study for the business. She was able to secure funding through a grant offered from Southeast Missouri State University and the Delta Regional Authority after completing the feasibility study. When the WISBDC offered a QuickBooks class, Nadine attended and this class helped her keep track of the financial aspects of her business. In order to promote her business, Nadine recently purchased a van to transport her deliveries as well as transporting her dried flower arrangements to different shows and festivals in the area. She felt this was a worthwhile investment because everywhere she goes, she is driving her own personal billboard. Nadine has participated in the Heritage Festival at Southeastern Illinois College for several years. Nadine also believes in helping the local community by making donations to Southeastern Illinois College Foundation’s Fantasy Auction, Women in the Outdoors, as well as local churches. Nadine has a Facebook page: (www.facebook.com/pages/Flower-Ridge-Farm/130274337016879) where she has posted several photos of her arrangements or she can be contacted by phone at 618-926-5321. The Workforce & Illinois Small Business Development Center is designed to assist owners and managers of small businesses or anyone wanting to start a business. Many of the services of the Center are available at no charge. Call (618) 252-5001 to learn about upcoming events and training opportunities.
