Tony Ochs

Tony Ochs played baseball for former SIC Coach Dave Montfort and went on to join the big game with the St. Louis Cardinals.  He started hitting at Southeastern, becoming the nation's community college batting champ, with a .531 batting average, his sophomore year.  He continued hitting at Memphis State University where he led the team in homeruns during the 1989 season.

He was a fifth-round draft for the Cardinals and played until 1992 when he returned home to Montgomery, IN to start a family.  He continues living in Montgomery and is a coal miner/heavy equipment operator.

Ochs recalls the joy of the game while playing for Montfort.  "He was a great coach and made it fun.  He knows hitting and how to teach it."
