Kathy Beck Fridley
Kathy Beck of Carmi must have never met a sport she didn’t like. At Southeastern, Beck was a standout in women’s basketball, softball, and volleyball, winning All Conference honors in all three sports in 1978. She also played on the coed tennis team. Post-SIC, Beck attended Indiana State University-Evansville (now named University of Southern Indiana), where she played tennis, softball, and basketball, where she was a basketball captain for two years and a Kiwanis award winner her junior year. Kathy married Mark Fridley in 1998. In 2000, after two years of commuting from Carmi, she retired from Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, where she taught P.E. and science and coached varsity volleyball and girls’ reserve basketball. Kathy remains active in the Carmi Ladies’ Golf Association.
