Joy Grayson-Turner
Beechmont, KY, native Joy Grayson was a key member of the 1988-1990 Lady Falcons basketball squad. The team won the regional championship and went to the national tournament. For her part, Grayson earned All-Conference and All-Region honors. Grayson transferred to and graduated from Lindsey Wilson College. True to her Muhlenberg County basketball roots, she served as assistant girls basketball coach at Muhlenberg South High School for one year and was also head coach at Muhlenberg South Middle School for a year.
Joy, married to Joe Turner and the mother of Joseph Grayson Turner, currently works as a social service specialist. Her civic involvement includes serving as president of the Green River Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary and as coordinator for the United Way in the Pennyville area service region for three years.
“Going to the national tournament and being a part of the first team to ever do so at SIC was a great honor,” Grayson said. Being inducted into the Hall of Fame makes it even more special. “ I want to let my parents know how much I appreciate them for the time and dedication they devoted to me and have continued to do so. Without them none of this would have been possible. I hope that someday my husband and I can be the kind of parents that they are to me.” |
