Gerard Moore
Gerard Moore played basketball for former SIC Athletic Director/Coach Virgil Motsinger, and is now a special education teacher in Granite City. His post-SIC athletic career included play at New Mexico State University where he earned the 1998-1999 Hustle Award in the Big West Champions NCAA Tournament. He was also a boy's assistant coach at Las Cruces, NM, and pulled stints with ABA pro teams in St. Louis, the St. Louis Flights and the St. Louis Stunners.
Moore recalls that he was known as a ball hog while at SIC, and Motsinger once gave him time-out instructions to shoot more. "Then he looked at me," Moore said, "and told me I didn't have to shoot it every time."
Moore, originally from Point Fortin, Trinidad, said he enjoyed all his time at Southeastern because everyone made him feel at home. "Going to school at SIC was a big step in my life that helped me become who I am."
