David Ellis

An All State basketball player at SIC, Dave transferred to McKendree College in 1973-74, where he was the starting center. Recalls Ellis, “My first visit to the new (at that time) Southeastern campus, it looked like a skyscraper.” A Shawneetown native, Mr. Ellis now resides in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area where he is a 30-year employee of the Minnesota Department of Corrections, specializing in working with juvenile offenders as a Program Director. He has continued his involvement with higher education as a founding advisory board member of the Center for Excellence in Urban Teaching at Hamling University. David and his wife Loretta have five children and 4 grandchildren.
