An outstanding pitcher for Southeastern from 1989-91, Crab Orchard High School graduate Cory Bailey was named to the All Region team. The city of Marion, where he was born, named a street after him, and the Crab Orchard High School is located on Cory Bailey Street. Cory has had a professional baseball career since 1991 when he signed with the Boston Red Sox. He played major league ball for the Red Sox (1993-94), St. Louis Cardinals (1995-1996), San Francisco Giants (1997-1998), Kansas City Royals (2001-2002), and the Yomiuri (Japan) Giants (2003). Currently a free agent, Cory and his wife Kim will know this month where his baseball career will take him next. His parents, Jerry and Marlene Bailey, still reside in southern Illinois. | |
