Bill Patterson
Patterson, now of Pinckneyville, attended Southeastern from 1965 to 1967, and was the college’s first All-American Honorable Mention. He also established a 49-point, one-game scoring record at the state JUCO tournament. Southeastern finished third in the state during Patterson’s freshman year. He averaged 29 points per game his sophomore year. After Motsinger moved the six-foot Galatia High School center to guard, playing offers came from Kansas, Evansville and SIU-Carbondale. Patterson declined them all and began a coal mining career that lead to a mine manager’s position before he retired. |
