Southeastern Illinois College was awarded Title III grant funding in October 2010. The Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program helps eligible institutions of higher learning to become self-sufficient and expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability of eligible institutions. The grant is a nearly $2 million, 5 year award from the U.S. Department of Education. SIC is utilizing the grant to strengthen the college's already successful online programs and media service infrastructure, and to create new online programs. The programs that will be created include the Practical Nursing program, Business degrees, Criminal Justice, and Biotechnology. The grant also provides for online student services upgrades in admissions, advising, testing, and financial aid services. Technological upgrades and expansion will also be funded.
