HLTH 118 - Introduction to Phlebotomy

Prepares the student in the techniques of phlebotomy (blood collecting), selection and care of equipment, and maintenance of safety standards in health care facilities.  This is an 8-week class given each Fall and Spring semester.  This is not a certificate program.

Phlebotomists collect patient blood samples by performing venipuncture and finger sticks.  Certification may be obtained by exam from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.  Employment is available in hospitals, clinics, and health care provider offices.
