Early School Leaver Transition Program

The Early School Leaver Transition Program is a FREE program specifically aimed at helping at-risk students become reoriented and motivated to complete their education by allowing those who qualify an opportunity to participate in adult education instruction as well as career and work training activities.  Only those demonstrating a willingness to meet both goals and are able to benefit from such a program are selected.  The FREE program offers students a chance to complete a career awareness course as well as develop a personal portfolio. The classroom activities focus on resume' writing, filing letters of application, practicing interviewing techniques, and completing life skills activities. The program also evetually provides students with a job-shadowing experience with area business partners and/or observe in various programs at SIC.   

 The program is designed for students meeting the following criteria:

  • Be between 16 - 21 years old
  • Have not graduated from high school or are attending GED classes
  • Must have a 9.0 TABE reading score.
