Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) Program is for any student wishing to expand their knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, programming, web design or networking. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment in a wide variety of industries. Students will gain experience with various operating systems including Windows (desktop and server) and Linux. Students will receive hand-on training on with various types of computer hardware. The successful student will be prepared to pass industry standard certification tests from Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA.  The Information Technology program offers degrees and certificates in the following areas:

  • Information Technology AAS
  • Information Technology AAS (SIU Capstone)
  • Information Technology - Security AAS
  • Information Technology - Programming AAS
  • Information Technology - Health AAS (Proposed)
  • Information Technology Certificate

Computer Aided Design and Drafting

The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) certificate program is designed to prepare students seeking employment in the engineering field as a drafter. Students are introduced to the concepts of 2D and 3D drafting and modeling. Students are educated in a modern computer lab with current CAD software and provided many hands-on learning opportunities. Students who are considering careers in Welding, Carpentry and other fields are encouraged to study CADD to supplement their education.

Computer Science

Computer Science is a two year Associate in Science Degree designed to provide a student interested in a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with their first two years of courses. Students interested in Computer Science are strongly encouraged to speak to a counselor at SIC to confirm the elective courses they select will transfer to their preferred four year institution.
