Job opportunities for graduates include maintenance foreman, repairman, miner, and various mine technician positions. In addition, skills acquired in this program - such as machine repair, welding, hydraulics and electrical skills - are applicable to occupations outside the mining industry. Credits earned in the Coal Mining Technology program transfer to Industrial Technology and Vocational Education programs at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale (SIU-C). Graduates are eligible for capstone credit through  SIU-C.
